New Meisel Endpin Rest Gives
Sliding Basses and Slithering Cellos the Slip!
Every cellist is
familiar with the problem of the slipping endpin. The conductor
lifts the baton, the cellist lifts the bow… then clamps both knees
in a vice-like grip around the instrument, hanging on for dear life
as the endpin gradually slides away. Unsurprisingly, clenching the
knees tightly and praying for an unpolished floor do nothing to
promote a relaxed playing style. Acutely familiar with this
predicament, Meisel Stringed Instruments has come to the rescue of
cellists and string bass players everywhere with a new line of Cello
and Bass Endpin Rests.
Available in four
versions: matte, high-gloss, walnut finish, high-gloss with metal
cup, Meisel endpin rests are made from specially formulated ABS
plastic, securely backed with a waterproof open-cell neoprene base.
ABS plastic was chosen for its toughness, rigidity and exceptional
shock absorbency, while the type of neoprene used in the base
material was specially selected for its waterproof and anti-slip
qualities. Combined, these materials offer peace of mind to the
musician on any kind of flooring. This reassurance is especially
welcome when playing in an unfamiliar location, where a musician may
be confronted with slick marble or a highly polished parquet floor.
Custodians and concert hall managers alike will also appreciate the
lack of floor damage left behind after the performance.
Unlike
traditional ‘tie around the chair leg rests,’ Meisel endpin rests
can be placed in any position, and adjusted easily for comfort.
While all sizes are sturdy enough to withstand the most enthusiastic
of playing techniques, the larger models will keep even the heaviest
bass securely in its place, leaving musicians free to concentrate on
their performance, rather than on keeping their instrument from
slipping. |
